Our Veterinarians
Dr Sarah Jayamalar
Owned by Labrador Sage, Husky Snow and Star the Cat
Dr Sarah grew up in Malaysia and graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Putra Malaysia. Following graduation, she worked in a small animal practice in Penang before making the move to Australia. After successfully completing the National Veterinary Examination in 2017, she has worked in a variety of small animal clinics across Adelaide, building extensive experience in companion animal medicine and surgery.
Committed to ongoing professional development, Dr Sarah has completed additional training in Emergency and Critical Care and has a particular passion for surgery, especially soft tissue surgery. She has also completed further training in soft tissue surgical techniques and is currently undertaking advanced studies to continue developing her skills in this area.
Dr Sarah enjoys the challenge and reward of helping patients through both routine and complex surgical procedures, and is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for her patients.
Outside of work, she loves travelling and camping around Australia (provided there are flushing toilets!), as well as cooking, reading, and spending quality time with her family. She shares her home with Sage the Labrador, Snow the Husky, and Star the cat, who keep life busy and full of adventure.
Dr Arielle Bridges
Owned by 2 Golden Retrievers: Chad and Dizzie, 2 Spoilt Cats: Tomahawk and Baby Cat, and Multiplying Fish
Dr Arielle has been a valued member of the Familypet Vet team since 2016 and has worked in the veterinary industry since 2010. Throughout her career, she has gained experience across small animal, mixed practice, and exotic animal medicine, giving her a broad and well-rounded approach to patient care.
One of the aspects of veterinary medicine that Dr Arielle finds most rewarding is building long-term relationships with pets and their families. She feels privileged to care for patients throughout every stage of their lives, from their very first visits through to their senior years.
Dr Arielle has a particular passion for surgery, with a special love for dentistry. She enjoys helping pets achieve better health and comfort through dental care and surgical procedures, while always striving to provide the highest standard of care.
Known for her compassionate and approachable nature, Dr Arielle works hard to ensure veterinary visits are as stress-free as possible for both patients and their owners, helping everyone feel comfortable and supported throughout their experience at the clinic.
When she’s not at work, Dr Arielle is kept busy by her two sons and her lively household of pets, including two Golden Retrievers, Chad and Dizzee, two cats, Tomahawk and Baby Cat, and an ever-growing collection of fish. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and watching AFL.
Dr Jordan Blyth
Owned by 2 Cats, Purrcival and Cleocatra
Dr Jordan is a dedicated veterinarian who is passionate about helping pets live happy, healthy, and comfortable lives. She has a particular interest in chronic pain management, palliative care, behaviour, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery, and enjoys working closely with pet owners to create tailored care plans that support their pets’ wellbeing at every stage of life.
Known around the clinic for her fun and colourful scrubs, Dr Jordan brings warmth, compassion, and a positive energy to every consultation. She is committed to building strong relationships with both patients and their families, ensuring everyone feels supported and understood throughout their veterinary journey.
Outside of work, Dr Jordan enjoys reading, going to the gym, and spending time camping and exploring the outdoors.
At home, she shares her life with two very special cats, Purrcival and Cleocatra, both of whom were adopted through Familypet Vet. Their personalities keep her entertained and remind her every day of the incredible bond between pets and their people.
Dr Li
Originally from China, Dr Li developed a passion for both animal welfare and medicine from an early age. She is now an enthusiastic graduate of the University of Adelaide, committed to delivering exceptional patient care while working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients and their families.
Throughout her veterinary training, Dr Li completed clinical placements across Australia, gaining hands-on experience in small animal medicine, surgery, diagnostic testing, anaesthesia, and the treatment of exotic animals. During an exchange program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University in Belgium, she worked alongside specialist teams and developed particular interests in diagnostic imaging, dermatology, cardiology, soft tissue surgery, and exotic animal medicine.
Outside work, Dr Li enjoys making the most of every opportunity to enjoy nature, including camping, hiking and fishing.
Our Support Team
Izél

With more than 20 years of experience as a veterinary nurse, Izél brings a wealth of knowledge and a diverse clinical background to the Familypet Vet team. Growing up on a farm in South Africa sparked her lifelong passion for animals and led to a career working with an incredible variety of species, including lions, tigers, cheetahs, crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, and many others.
After moving to Australia in 2022, Izél joined a specialist hospital in North Ryde, Sydney, where she worked as a specialist theatre and anaesthesia nurse. Following her relocation to Adelaide, she continued her specialist nursing career in a referral hospital, primarily supporting the Dermatology department while also assisting with theatre, anaesthesia, and emergency nursing cases.
As a highly experienced and versatile veterinary nurse, Izél enjoys all aspects of nursing, with a particular interest in dermatology. She is passionate about ongoing learning and is committed to providing the highest standard of care for every patient while supporting pet owners through every stage of their animal’s healthcare journey.
Outside of the clinic, Izél enjoys photography, particularly capturing nature and wildlife, as well as hiking, camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors with her family. She also loves creative hobbies such as jewellery making and tackling a good puzzle.
At home, she shares her life with two dogs: April, a rescue Jack Russell cross who loves paddleboarding adventures, and Bambi, her energetic Kelpie cross puppy.
Kait

Kait grew up on a beautiful farm in the Riverland before moving to Adelaide after high school, where her passion for animal care continued to grow.
She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2016 and has worked in a variety of veterinary clinics over the years before finding her furever home at Familypet Vet. Kait’s favourite aspects of veterinary nursing are surgical nursing, caring for pocket pets, and helping wildlife. She loves being able to advocate for and care for animals that cannot speak for themselves, ensuring they receive the compassion and attention they deserve.
Outside of work, Kait enjoys spending time with her children, going for walks, and playing video games. She also has a creative side and loves hobbies such as crochet, painting, and caring for her growing collection of plants.
At home, Kait shares her life with Layla, her Siberian Husky cross, and a collection of fish that keep her busy when she’s not at the clinic.
Alistair

Alistair is a Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse who has been working in the veterinary industry for more than six years, all of which have been spent as a valued member of the Familypet Vet team. As the clinic’s only male veterinary nurse, he brings a unique perspective, a caring nature, and a genuine passion for supporting both pets and their owners.
Alistair enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, particularly hands-on animal care and building meaningful relationships with clients. He is dedicated to ensuring every patient receives compassionate care while helping owners feel informed and supported throughout their pet’s healthcare journey.
Drawing on his background and training in loss and grief support, Alistair has a special ability to guide clients through some of the more difficult moments of pet ownership with empathy, understanding, and kindness. He is passionate about helping families navigate these emotional experiences while honouring the special bond they share with their pets.
Outside of work, Alistair enjoys spending time with his five-year-old daughter and his rescue cat, Mono, who keeps the household entertained with plenty of personality and charm.
Sinead

Sinead is currently studying Veterinary Science at the University of Adelaide and is working towards her goal of becoming a mixed practice veterinarian. Her passion for animal health and welfare, combined with her enthusiasm for learning, makes her a valued member of the Familypet Vet team.
One of Sinead’s favourite parts of her role is building strong relationships with clients and helping them become the best pet owners they can be. She enjoys educating and supporting pet owners, ensuring they feel confident and informed about their pets’ care and wellbeing.
Outside of the clinic, Sinead loves attending music festivals, camping, and spending time with family and friends. She is also a devoted dog owner and shares her home with three much-loved dogs: Aoife, Maeve, and Bobbi.
Fun fact: Sinead’s favourite animal is a seal, thanks to their playful personalities and curious nature
Hannah

Hannah has been veterinary nursing since 2016 and brings a broad range of experience to the Familypet Vet team, having worked across general practice, exotics, emergency, and referral nursing. Her diverse background has allowed her to develop strong clinical skills while providing compassionate care to a wide variety of patients.
Hannah has a special interest in avian medicine, feline nursing, and internal medicine. She is also passionate about client education and support, helping pet owners feel informed and confident when it comes to their pets’ health and wellbeing.
Known around the clinic as the “nail trimming queen,” Hannah is dedicated to creating positive, low-stress experiences for her patients and enjoys helping nervous pets feel comfortable during their visits.
Outside of work, Hannah loves reading, baking, and spending quality time with friends. At home, she is kept busy by her much-loved pets: Bruce the Whippet and her three cats, Chilli, Obi, and Wasabi.
Kira
Kira is a qualified Veterinary Nurse who completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at the end of 2023 while working in a veterinary clinic. Having gained all of her experience in general practice, she enjoys the variety that each day brings and is passionate about providing compassionate care to both patients and their families.
Kira has a particular interest in anaesthesia and dentistry and enjoys continuing to expand her knowledge and skills in these areas. She is dedicated to helping pets feel comfortable and cared for throughout their veterinary visits and procedures.
Outside of the clinic, Kira enjoys reading, hiking, going to the gym, and spending quality time with friends and family.
At home, she has a much-loved furry family of three: Stripes, her 11-year-old Domestic Short Hair cat; Minnie, her 11-year-old Maltese cross; and Max, her senior Terrier cross. Caring for her own pets gives her a special appreciation for the bond between pets and their people and the importance of quality veterinary care.
Alicia
Alicia joined the Familypet Vet team as a Kennel Assistant, bringing with her a lifelong passion for animals and many years of experience working with racehorses. After spending much of her career in the equine industry, she is excited to be pursuing a new chapter in veterinary care and continuing to work with the animals she loves.
Alicia enjoys being part of the team that helps ensure pets are comfortable, cared for, and well looked after during their time at the clinic. Her calm and caring nature makes her a wonderful support for both patients and their families.
Outside of work, Alicia enjoys reading, shopping, spending time at the beach, and catching up with friends over a glass of wine. She also loves horse riding whenever she gets the chance.
Alicia shares her home with her husband, Tom, their two children, and their much-loved cat, Angel, who certainly keeps the family entertained.
Shrimpie
Shrimpie is Familypet Vet’s beloved resident practice cat and an important member of the team. Although she only weighs around 3kg, she has the personality of a Labrador and is convinced that everyone she meets is her new best friend!
Shrimpie was found as a tiny kitten hiding inside a BBQ, which is how she earned her unique name. Around the clinic, she is affectionately known as “Kevin” when she’s feeling particularly cheeky or getting up to mischief.
Unlike most cats, Shrimpie absolutely loves dogs and can often be found making friends with canine visitors. She also takes her role as kitten supervisor very seriously and enjoys helping care for rescue kittens when they come through the clinic.
When she’s not busy greeting clients or supervising the team, Shrimpie can usually be found chasing her favourite toys—ping pong balls—or chatting away to anyone willing to listen. She is known for being very vocal and always has something important to say!
Whether she’s providing emotional support, entertaining the team, or keeping a watchful eye on the clinic, Shrimpie is a much-loved part of the Familypet Vet family
