PREVENTATIVE CARE

Keep your pet on track with annual health checks and preventative care to develop a complete picture of your pet’s health and evaluate any potential health care issues.

As pets age, just like humans, things change and different health concerns can arise.

With regular assessments including blood test we are able to detect early health changes and address ways of treatment before the condition deteriorates. Learn More

Our goal is to help your animal live the longest, best life possible. We will develop a personalised vaccination protocol according to your animal’s age, needs and risk factors. Learn More

An annual injection for the treatment of Heartworm can protect your dog, cat or ferret from a potentially fatal disease, whilst intestinal worm prevention is not only important to a pet’s health, but for the health of your family as well.

Dental disease can lead to serious health problems. Maintaining healthy teeth and gums for your pet is very important. It is hard for your pet to tell you if they have a toothache or issues with their gums. Learn More

We offer a range of diagnostic services including digital x-ray technology, in-house blood diagnostics, ultrasound and pathology, and we have a laboratory to diagnose any concerns early. That way, you are armed with the knowledge to make the best decisions for your pet.

SURGICAL SERVICES

Our team handles routine surgeries like spays, neuters, soft tissue, and dental. We also handle more complex procedures or can refer you to an expert specialist.

Dogs and Cats born on or after the 1st July 2018 must be desexed by 6 months of age in South Australia unless you have a veterinary exemption. There are many benefits such as preventing unwanted litters, reducing aggression, and prevention of cancer and prostate disease in males. Learn More

Our skilled veterinarians can perform the vast majority of soft tissue procedures such as large mass removals, caesareans, biopsies, wound repairs, removal of foreign bodies and more.

We provide you and your pets with emergency treatment for critical illness or injury. Unexpected incidents and accidents can happen and we will always do our best to assist your pet and get them onto a road to recovery.

Pets are vulnerable to gum disease and problems with their teeth. We recommend regular dental checkups and cleans to prevent discomfort, extractions, or worse still, heart, liver and kidney problems. We offer an extensive range of dental treatments from the elective to the unavoidable.

Orthopaedic surgery is usually required due to an injury or from a degenerative condition. We can assist with diagnoses and repairs to your dog’s bones and joints such as hip and elbow dysplasia, fractures, joint fusions and dislocations.

WELLBEING SERVICES

As well as general practice veterinary care, we can also assist with behavioural, physical or emotional concerns. We’re here to help you get to the bottom of it.

Microchipping is compulsory in South Australia for all dogs and cats.  It also ensures that if they do become lost, you are much more likely to be reunited.  Our microchips are about the size of a grain of rice, safe for your pets, and are ideal for identification purposes.

Unwanted or concerning pet behaviour can be a stressful problem for many pet owners. A behaviour consultation with your vet is the first step to implementing a training plan with our professional recommendations.

Nutrition is an important indicator of your pet’s health and welfare. We can discuss any health, diet, or weight fluctuations during their examination and help you plan a diet to suit their age and lifestyle. Prescription diets may be required for patients with ongoing conditions.

Familypet Vet are experienced with breeding all types of dogs. We take the stress out of the process from mating to birthing. Learn More

Puppy Pre-School is an important step in the development of a lifelong companion and helps your new furry family member become confident, well-socialised, obedient and relaxed in unfamiliar situations. Learn More

Familypet Vet has offered a cat adoption service for many years and accepts one litter at a time.  We desex, vaccinate, microchip and administer parasite prevention, then rehome them to a loving new home for a small fee.

We have a variety of nail clippers that suit different pets – from the very small to the very tall.  We can also teach you how to do it if you would prefer to cut them yourself.

If you’re looking for an alternative medical management option for your senior or sore pets, then Familypet Vet may be able to help. Dr Katie has completed a course in canine massage therapy and can help with reducing muscle pain after surgery or in dogs that are beginning to get stiff with arthritis. It can also help in dogs with chronic joint problems like hip dysplasia. If you would like to learn more about this option, then please call the clinic to talk to our friendly staff.
